Happy Birthday Canada!

momstown milton is wishing you all a super Canada Day tomorrow!

Looking to keep little hands busy and let them help celebrate Canada's Birthday? Here's a few Canada Day ideas:

* Paint Canada flags with red paint handprints as the 'maple leaf' (all ages can do this!!)

*Make lots of 8x11 flags to stick on windows and fences, tape flags to a straw for mini ones or toothpicks for super-mini. Let the kids display their Canadian art gallery for everyone to see their national pride.

*What's Canada day without Fireworks? Make a firework Canada Day t-shirt by diluting fabric paint with water in a spray bottle. Each spray is a blast of 'fireworks' and then decorate with extra sparkle paint for effect.

*Canadiana beaded 'necklaces': Find some red & white beads or paint penne pasta or even cut up some toliet paper rolls to make fat "beads" - string them together for a gorgeous national look!

*Include your little sous chefs by decorating red & white cupcakes with fresh in season strawberries and raspberries.

Most of all enjoy a fun day with your family!

Our momstown members are talking about the events taking place at the Milton Fairgrounds tomorrow. Click here for the details and a link to the fun stuff the town is putting on. We bet you'll see a few momstown faces out and about!!

Ostrich fun!

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Ostrich can live up to 70 years (Wow that's a long time)

  • Ostrich can run 70 kilometres an hour (40 mph) and maintain that speed for 15 minutes at a time (Could you imagine chasing after your toddler at that speed?)

  • Ostrich have three pairs of eyelids, two toes and one toenail.

momstown Milton along with momstown Guelph learned these fun facts and more while touring White Rock Ostrich Farm in Rockwood.

Our day was perfect; the sun was shining, a slight breeze in the air and the ostriches were waiting at every turn of the tractor. With the help of our tour guide, we learned about the three types of breeder; the African Black, the Blue, and the Red, we fed the teenagers; who are only a year old, and looked in on the 3 week old babies in the nursery.

But wait that's not all...

Many of our momstown mamas feasted on ostrich burgers, Yummy! And our little ones enjoyed a delicious ice cream cone.

Next month momstown Milton is heading to Lowville Park for our Jungle Exploration, Brantford Twin Valley Zoo, and Kelso Beach. If you are interested in learning more about momstown Milton's events, playgroups, and more, contact us at info@momstown.ca or milton.momstown.ca

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs

Creepy crawlies + a walk around Mill Pond + snacks in the gazebo = a fantastic momstown Milton Busytown playgroup.

momstown Milton explored the creatures behind rocks, crawling the trees and swimming in the Mill Pond. We began our trek at Rotary Park and ended in the gazebo overlooking the Mill Pond. Our wee ones brought along their jars, nets, and bug catchers in hopes of finding creepy crawlies (all creatures were returned to their homes afterwards).

We ended our walk through nature with snacks in the shade of the Mill Pond gazebo. Future Busytown playgroups include White Rock Ostrich Farm, Brantford Twin Valley Zoo, and Soccer at Bronte Meadows park.
