Are you wondering what to do for mom for Mother’s Day?  Our momstown Milton mamas agreed that a day off from the kitchen would be a welcome surprise especially if it meant not having to do dishes!  Here are some great options for you to choose from to treat mom to a special Mother's Day meal and support our local Milton Restaurants at the same time!

At the Marquee Steakhouse & Piano Lounge their vision is to create a space that is warm and enticing, one that draws you in and makes you feel at ease. Food and music are two cornerstones of culture. They offer an exceptional repertoire of musical talent that will enhance your dining experience and create for you a memorable and highly entertaining evening. Click here for a peek of their special Mother's Day menu.  I promise it will make your mouth water!

The Mohawk Inn –When it first opened in 1967 in the hamlet of Campbellville, the Mohawk Inn was billed as the first “electric motel” in Ontario – an establishment with a rustic, early-Canadian colonial style, and the comfort and convenience of “all electric” heating and cooling. Its objective was simple: to provide a restful atmosphere in which clients could relax and enjoy themselves. The restaurant has two options for making moms day extra special.  Choose from either taking mom and grandmas to brunch or treat them to a delicious dinner.  Both are affordable and everyone will leave feeling satisfied.

Shoeless Joe's Sports Grill is all about celebrating sports with family and friends. Whether you're celebrating your favourite team's victory, your league game with teammates or your child's big win, we're here to serve you!  Located at 800 Main St E the Milton location has a great deal for all moms!  Mom's eat FREE!  Click here for more info on this awesome deal!

The Grand Chalet & Tony Spiducci's Ristorante is known for quality fresh food and delicious taste along with our impeccable service. Choose from a wide range of selections off their menu.   Who doesn't love authentic Italian food?

The Harrop Restaurant -This elegant colonial mansion was built by an emigrant Scottish family, in a slower, more gracious era. Constructed of local limestone in 1870, the house originally stood on a 2000 acre grant of crown land. The true regency character of the house is discernible only from within. Join them for a Mother's Day Brunch that mom won't soon forget!

momstown Milton Top Local Mother's Day gift ideas!

It really isn't hard to please us mamas; although some hubby's make it seem like they were looking for the meaning of life when trying to decide what to get us as a Mother's Day Gift.  Here are some gift ideas that are sure to be a hit with most moms.  Don't forget to show your hubby this list as a subtle hint!

1.  Spa day - This is a hit with any SAHM, WAHM or moms who work outside the home.  We all need a break once in awhile to concentrate on us.  With all the work we do planning and organizing our family life, we almost always forget about us.  A day at the spa will give us the relaxation that we all need.  (Try to remember and have a massage thrown in, carrying those heavy babies is tough on our shoulders and backs).  Vixen Nails & Spa offers great services for mom.

2.  Special mementos from the kids - Getting a handprint ornament or a photo book with our favorite pics of our kids shows that you put a lot of thought into the gift and it will surely bring a happy tear to our eye.  Wee Piggies and Paws and Simply Creative are wonderful places to visit for the perfect gift

3.  Sleep - Get the kids dressed, make their breakfast and take them out in the morning giving us a chance to sleep in.  I don't think I have met a mom out there who couldn't use an extra hour to sleep on the weekend.

4.  Family jewellery - Be it  handmade jewellery with our kids names or fingerprints on it or a family ring/necklace that has our kids birthstones in it, this will be a big hit.  Lovelinx has some beautiful pieces I know any mom would love.

5.  Flowers - A beautiful spring bouquet to brighten up our day.  We don't expect you to go over the top with 24 roses.  Some nice daisies, tulips or lilies will put a smile on our face. Drop by Crawford's Garden Centre to choose from a variety of options!

6.  Thank you - A simple thank you from hubby and the kids showing us you really appreciate all that we do is a great gift.  Put it in a special handwritten note or a handmade card from the kids so we can keep it forever.  Check out our momstown site for some wonderful craft ideas

Any and all of these gifts will go a long way.  Remember, Mother's Day is on May 12 this year so its time to start planning:)

momstown Milton spoils our Mamas!

When you're young, you don't realise just how precious these mother's day events are to us mothers.  For moms, it's an opportunity to sit back and reflect, to take the long view of what motherhood is and what it really means to be MOM (that is, when we are not up to our knees in chaos, laundry and tantrums). Thanks to Miss Sam, the many mom-volunteers and our supporting neighbourhood companies, we all had an opportunity to gather and celebrate what we moms all have in common -a giant heart full of love and tenderness and wonder for our little ones and what their presence offers to our lives. Yes, sleepless nights are torturous, whining just about drives us to the edge, and the constant sacrifices can be relentless at times, but there are those moments of pure joy. Many of them actually!

Momstown Milton celebrated these special moments with a Mothers' Day Tea Party at The Dance Shoppe. It was an amazing turnout with over 50 moms and their children, and grandmothers too! Everyone was dressed in their finest, with some arriving as princesses with tiaras and crowns, and that was just the moms! Tutus and jaunty hats, ties and suit jackets -this was a smartly dressed crowd!

Infants were intrigued immediately by the play area set up just for them; the toddlers had full reign and freedom in a studio walled with mirrors filled with hula hoops, different colours and types of balls, colourful streamers and skipping ropes. Everyone got right down to it! Many moms donated fresh baked goods, fruit platters, crackers and cheese, donuts. Cake pops were donated by Party Monsters Invitations and More in the shape of colourful flowers. And instead of hot tea, we shared a toast with iced tea and pink lemonade!

After free play, the tumbling demo lead by Lindsay began for the toddlers and Miss Sam began the infant mothers day craft gift by painting the little ones hands on a sentimental poem to mom. When the tumbling demo was over and the toddlers had shaken their booties and wiggled their waggles out, it was their turn to make a crafty mothers day souvenir. They hand decorated pots which were later filled with soil and purple pansies for moms to take home to their gardens. Thank you Crawfords Garden Centre for donating the supplies and Huggies for providing the Simply Clean wipes that helped to keep the mess to a minimum!

As the children were occupied, we began the raffle for gifts that had been donated to momstown. Chapters Indigo donated a bag of books, Goodlife donated a sports bag and gym accessories, Zen Wellness Clinic donated a $25 gift certificate, Paula from Lia Sophia for the stunning necklce and Oceana Whispers for a lovely floral bouquet.

Many of the moms also participated in the competition for most unique tea pot or tea cup. The prize was given to Jamie for her beautiful and original musical tea pot that had been handed down through several generations!

In celebration of love of mothers and mothers' love for their babes, we sang many familiar songs with a change in lyrics to express our all that moms do, and read some books in further support.

Thank you to all of the moms and their little ones for celebrating and donating resources and time to help set up and clean up our party.

At the Mothers Day Tea Party, we were able to take a look around at moms in our neighbourhood and celebrate all that we do and all that our kids bring to our lives. This event surely will not be forgotten!

Tiara's, Tutus and Prince Charming

Our group enjoyed a very magical morning today at the Dance Shoppe for our momstown Milton Mother's Day Tea Party held on Friday May 6th. The moms and tots arrived in their dazzling outfits that included tiara's, tutus and a few Prince Charming dudes!

Miss Lindsay started off the event with a free tumbling demo that had our little ones bouncing, singing and dancing too!

Then we were off to put together our Mother's Day craft for our moms to take home as a keepsake. The craft was a flower stem with a beautiful sentimental poem printed beside it. All of the kids were able to participate in creating a hand or footprint stamp that completed the picture for moms to take home and frame.

Once craft time was over, it was time for tea! We all sat down to a formal place setting with some very tasty treats to sample. There were finger sandwiches, croissants and a variety of delicious jams from Springridge farms, biscuits, apple juice, Starbucks coffee and a wide selection of teas to sip on.

Circle time was next and we sure did have fun singing songs about love to our mamas, playing with the parachute and reading a book titled "Are you my Mummy?" Little Polar Bear. It was all about a little polar bear cub trying to find his mummy and all of the different types of animals he meets during his search. Simple yet engaging for all ages!

Sadly enough the event came to an end however for a few lucky mamas the pampering will continue with some fantastic services / items from Karen's flower shop and Allegra Spa.

Here is a glimpse of how a few of our sister chapters were spoiling their members.momstown Barrie, momstown Newmarket and Auroraand momstown Burlington. Happy Mother's Day to all!
