momstown Milton Book Review sponsored by Scholastic - Inhuman by Kat Falls

This month our momstown Milton Mama Book Club was sponsored by Scholastic Canada. We had the opportunity to read "Inhuman" by Kat Falls and we loved it.

Literacy is one of the key principles of momstown's 6 Program Pillarsmomstown encourages a foundation of early learning for children through interactive and engaging activities. Learning is essentially a part of our life's journey, it starts when we're young and continues on throughout the years.  As moms, it is important for us to set an example to our children and promote a love of reading.

With excitement and passion, our momstown Milton moms got together to discuss the book Inhuman by Kat Falls.  This is the second  Mom Book Club sponsored by Scholastic this year and we were in for quite a treat.

The chat consisted of the momstown Milton moms praising the character of Delaney Park McEvoy, or Lane as she liked to be called.  This courageous and inquisitive girl battled against the odds and entered the Feral Zone to save her loved one.  The Feral Zone inhabitants included terrifying guards, “manimals”, and other dangerous and deadly creatures. Using her survival skills, intellect and tenacity, Lane set out to learn the truth about her family, and about herself.

Falls engaging narrative and fast-paced twists and turns proved to be a compelling read.  The moms enjoyed the speed of the book and the descriptive story-telling style.  The Mama’s Book Club conversation quickly jumped from action scene to action scene, replaying the drama of the story. We debated the necessity of protecting children from dangerous truths vs. allowing children to challenge themselves and go in search of the truth.

The rise and the strength of the female protagonist Lane was much appreciated among the moms.  They applauded the lengths she would travel to for the truth and to save a loved one, qualities that the moms hope to embody and pass along to their children. We thoroughly enjoyed the book and were very grateful to Scholastic Canada for providing such a compelling and touching read for the Mama’s Book Club discussion.

Memorable quotes by our momstown Milton moms about Inhuman.

“This book was a quick and fun read, perfect for a busy mama.”

“The character of Lane was very well done.  Her journey of self-discovery compelled the reader.”

“The love triangle in the book was done well, and subtle.  It was enjoyable to follow.”

“The idea of a dystopian society does not seem that far-fetched and the book was an interesting take on the topic.”
